Bunk'Art 1 is a historical and artistic museum located on the outskirts of Tirana, Albania. This bunker was constructed during the communist regime of Enver Hoxha to serve as a shelter in case of war. Bunk'Art 1 is located on the outskirts of Tirana and is built five floors underground. The museum includes 106 rooms and covers an area of 3000 m2;. Upon entering the museum, visitors must pass through a long, dimly lit tunnel that leads to the depths of the bunker.

 

2. Historical Exhibits

The museum offers insights into Albanian history through historical exhibits and artistic installations. Visitors can learn about different historical periods, from the Italian invasion of Albania in 1939, the diplomacy of the war years 1941-1945, the German occupation and Albanian resistance, to the establishment and eventual downfall of the communist regime in 1990. To fully explore the museum, you will need at least 1 hour.

 

3. Temperatures in the Bunker

Being an underground bunker, the temperatures inside the museum are cooler than outside. Therefore, it is advisable to bring a light jacket or sweater.

 

4. Hours and Tickets

During these hot July days, the museum is open every day. You can purchase a combined ticket to visit both Bunk'Art 1 and Bunk'Art 2, and the ticket is valid for 3 days (72 hours). Additionally, besides the standard tickets, you can also get a personal guide or an audio guide in English and Italian language. For the audio guide, make sure to bring your own headphones.
