Bunk'Art 2 is a historical museum located in the center of Tirana. The museum is built in an underground bunker and consists of 24 rooms, covering an area of 1000 m2;. This museum, or the former tunnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is divided into three major historical sections: the Gendarmerie from Independence to World War II (1912-1939), the Security Forces from the Nazi-fascist occupation to Liberation (1939-1944), and the Police and Sigurimi during the dictatorship period (1944-1991). Bunk'Art 2 is one of the most visited attractions in Albania and offers a vivid overview of the country's history, particularly the communist period and the role of the secret police, Sigurimi. 1. Location and Structure Bunk'Art 2 is located in the center of Tirana, just 30 seconds away from Skanderbeg Square. The museum includes 24 rooms and an area of 1000 m2;.
2. Historical Exhibits The museum offers an overview of Albanian history through historical exhibits and artistic installations. Visitors can learn about different historical periods, from the establishment of 'Sigurimi' in the early years of the communist regime, the role of the secret police in tracking and persecuting political opponents, to the overthrow of the communist regime in 1990. To fully explore the museum, you will need 1 hour.
3. Opening Hours and Tickets The museum is open every day. You can purchase a combined ticket to visit both Bunk'Art 1 and Bunk'Art 2, and the ticket is valid for 3 days (72 hours). In addition to standard tickets, you can also get a personal guide or an audio guide in English or Italian. For the audio guide, make sure to bring your own headphones.
